Boarders Playground

Snowboarders and freestylers can find one of the best fun parks in Austria here – the boarders playground. Ski and snowboard fun knows no limits in Westendorf from the start of the winter season right through to Easter and the start of spring.

Highlights alongside the pistes are the excellently prepared cross country ski routes and the well prepared and maintained winter walking paths through breathtaking, peaceful, winter landscapes.

Stop off for refreshments in the afternoon in Hoch Söll, Après-Ski at the Bruchstadl back in Westendorf. Park your boards and skis overnight in our free heated ski-depot. Westendorf is an Eldorado for beginners and advanced winter-sports fans but is also super for young families.

Rachel, a guest from New Zealand, stayed with us in February and wrote : „Considering a family ski holiday? You can’t get better than Westendorf, Austria. The ski area is massive, catering for all ski/boarding levels. There is a vast array of blue runs, which are interesting and thrilling for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Thus skiing with the children is an absolute pleasure.“

„Westendorf is a compact village, with services very close to the slopes. I hired the children’s ski equipment from Sport 2000 Ruetz, who I would highly recommend. They were also very helpful with the usual unexpected purchases e.g. new gloves and goggles. I now own the best pair of goggles in the world! „

„There are several ski schools to choose from. I went with Tops, who I couldn’t fault and my daughter’s (5 and 8) reported were great. Certainly their progress throughout the week was remarkable. I was impressed and reassured by Tops’ focus on child safety.“

Wonderful Food

„The food on the mountain is wonderful. I can attest to the quality of Apple Strudel and hot chocolate (my two favourites) on the slopes. There is no wrong time of the day to eat pudding. There are also a number of good café’s in the village, which are well worth a visit.“

„Etiquette on the mountain is second to none. People stop and help if children fall or look distressed. They even help adults! Having said this, it is slightly different at the lifts especially first thing in the morning.

Would I go again? In a heartbeat!“

Rachel flew into Innsbruck with easyJet and used the free Austrian Railways ÖBB app in English on her SmartPhone to purchase through tickets to Westendorf. „Easy to use, it gives you all the alternatives updated in real time. The ticket inspector simply scans a QR code on your phone. And you can swap between bus and train.“ „No barriers, no questions asked.“ Typical fare from airport to heart of Westendorf €12.
